Montell & Kristin Jordan | Executive Producer

Montell Jordan is a Grammy Award–winning singer, songwriter, record producer, and faith leader best known for his timeless R&B anthem “This Is How We Do It.” A former Def Jam artist with a career spanning multiple decades, Montell has released six studio albums, sold over 20 million units worldwide, and achieved multiple Top 40 R&B/Hip-Hop singles. His breakout hit “This Is How We Do It” not only reached #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 but also earned RIAA Platinum certification and continues to thrive through over 1 billion Spotify streams and countless placements in Super Bowl ads, films, and viral trends.

​Beyond his own artistry, Montell has penned songs for artists including Christina Milian, Sisqo, and Deborah Cox, leaving an indelible mark on the music industry. Today, he has expanded his influence far beyond the charts, embracing his calling as a husband, father, author, marriage mentor, and public speaker. Blending faith, artistry, and purpose, Montell continues to inspire audiences across the globe with both his music and his message.

 

How We Do Films, LLC, co-founded by Grammy Award winning artist Montell Jordan and his wife, Kristin, is dedicated to creating compelling, purpose-driven stories that inspire change and elevate culture. With a foundation built on authenticity, faith and excellence, the company merges world-class storytelling with a commitment to addressing real-life issues that matter.

 

Their latest project - a feature documentary chronicling Montell’s personal journey with prostate cancer - reflects their mission to entertain while empowering audiences. By premiering at major music festivals, How We Do Films seeks to spark conversations, break down stigmas and encourage men everywhere to get tested early. Through every frame, Montell aims to prove that powerful stories don’t just move hearts - they can save lives.

A first-generation Nigerian-American, Adetoro Makinde is an award-winning filmmaker, and graduate of Georgetown University and Duke Ellington School of the Arts. Founder of Backdoor Films and its social impact arm, Hyphenate Africa, she's written, directed and/or produced multiple Sundance premiered with a diverse portfolio of projects spanning from the Magnolia acquired "A Good Day to Be Black & Sexy", Golden Globe nominated (THE TALE) to social impact-focused narratives (THE BOY WHO HARNESSED THE WIND) and documentaries (STRUGGLE: THE LIFE AND LOST ART OF SZUKALSKI) with HBO, Participant Media, Netflix and Leonardo DiCaprio respectively. Her current slate of projects include an epic Hurricane Katrina biopic, "The American Can," previously optioned by SONY Studios starring Will Smith, and a docuseries "I Am An African."

Named a “Producer to Watch” by IMDbPro, among her recent honors are the 2024 Incubator for Executive Leaders of Color and 2022 Women's Fund by the New York Foundation for the Arts and the NYC Mayor’s Office for Entertainment and Media. Additional fellowships and accolades include Film Independent Project Involve, Ford Foundation, IFP | NYSCA, and HBO Corporate and Social Responsibility.

She is current Executive Director, President and Co-Founder of Women Independent Producers, as well as the former Chair of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion for Film Fatales and Program Director of the USC School of Cinematic Arts | Netflix Africa Partnership Program.

JENNIFER SHARP

Jennifer Sharp | Editor

Jennifer Sharp is an award-winning director, editor, and writer, and a graduate of NYU's Tisch School of the Arts. Her editing portfolio spans both narrative and documentary feature films, as well as promos and serialized content.

 

Driven by a deep belief in the transformative power of art, Jennifer sees storytelling as a catalyst for social change—and considers it the artist’s responsibility to speak their truth in service of that mission. Her work has earned over 20 awards, including Best Editor at the Artists & Aliens Film Festival and multiple Best Feature Film honors for her acclaimed narrative feature, Una Great Movie. Her powerful documentary Anecdotals was recognized with the Outstanding Impact Award by the National Health Freedom Coalition.

 

In addition to her filmmaking, Jennifer is passionate about teaching. She currently serves as an instructor at the New York Film Academy (NYFA) and has taught for Sundance Collab, helping to guide the next generation of storytellers.
